Early Childhood Camps Director
Karen knew early on that her career choice would involve early childhood education when she began working with young children as early as 15 years old as the neighborhood babysitter. She later went on become a mother’s helper with positions in New York City and overseas.
Karen began her career in education as a Kindergarten teacher in the heart of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. She continued as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher in the Philadelphia School District and was the Director of a childcare center in Collegeville, PA. She joined the JCC Early Childhood family in 2006 as Assistant Director, and is also the director of the award-winning Early Childhood Camps at the Katz JCC. She is a recipient of the 2016 Educator Awards presented by the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey’s Department of Jewish Education.
Karen holds a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Franklin Pierce University, and is the mother of two young children.
