ACHaD – Achieving Community Hopes and Dreams
The ACHaD (Achieving Community Hopes and Dreams) Department of the provides individuals with special needs, a safe and nurturing environment to build social skills and cultivate friendships. Through supportive programs, that facilitate a sense of empowerment and independence, participants engage in social, recreational and cultural activities.
Individuals with a wide range of developmental, neurological, physical and intellectual learning challenges including, Autism, Asperger, Developmental Disabilities, Down Syndrome, social and communication disorders and ADD/ADHD, participate in programming that enhances their social, emotional and physical well-being.

To help ensure the most appropriate placement for each person with special needs, all new participants must schedule an intake interview at the JCC facility. All information and IEPs shared with the ACHaD Department staff is kept strictly confidential. Members of the Katz JCC that require special assistance can choose to supply their own support person and take advantage of all programs & services without limitations.
A support person will be allowed into the facility free of charge as long as they are accompanying a member who requires their assistance. This person will have no other Center privileges. Please contact the Cherry Hill ACHaD Department to obtain a caregiver card for this person.
Staff support and adaptive equipment for seniors with visual, auditory and physical challenges to facilitate participation programs alongside their peers
Adaptive/Assistive devices available for use at programs include individual assistive listening units for use in the Social Hall of the JCC, portables amplified hearing devices, portable automatic lifting seat, motorized scooter, wheelchairs, TTY phone, Hydraulic lift access for indoor and outdoor pools, elevators and accessible entrances and restrooms.
This program receives funding from both the Raymond & Gertrude R. Saltzman Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey Federation Annual Campaign.

Adaptive / Assistive Devices available through the Cherry Hill ACHaD Department of the JCC for use at the Weinberg Community Campus:
- Assistive listening units for use in the JCC Social Hall
- Portable amplified hearing device
- TTY Phone
- Portable automatic lifting seat
- Hydraulic lift access for all pools
- Motorized scooter
- Accessible restrooms
A special needs basketball team for middle and high school age students who wish to participate with their peers in a sports program. Includes a team shirt, instruction, and game play is held Monday nights throughout the school year.
Jewish Holiday Celebrations and Community Events
The ACHaD department provides year round opportunities to celebrate the Jewish Holidays with your peers.
