On Broadway: Virtual Film Screening
Tuesday, August 17 • 7pm
Please note that this event will be held virtually ONLY. If you’ve purchased an in-person ticket, you will be notified directly via our staff.
An all-star cast tells the inside story of the Broadway theater and how it came back from the brink thanks to innovative work, new attention to inclusion, and a sometimes uneasy balance between art and commerce. Legends of the stage and screen including Helen Mirren, Christine Baranski, August Wilson, James Corden, Alec Baldwin, John Lithgow, Viola Davis, Hugh Jackman, and Ian McKellen take us behind the scenes of Broadway’s most groundbreaking and beloved shows, from “A Chorus Line” to “Hamilton.”
Iconic performances by Lin Manuel Miranda, Patti Lupone, Bernadette Peters, James Earl Jones, and Mandy Patinkin lead the way on a hurly-burly ride through Times Square, once again the main street of American show business in ON BROADWAY, directed by Academy-Award nominee Oren Jacoby.
Following the film, attendees will enjoy a lively discussion about Broadway with Ben Lipitz. Lipitz, a Cherry Hill native, has played the coveted role of Pumbaa in Disney’s The Lion King for over 20 years. A JCC Camps at Medford alumni, he returns to Cherry Hill every year to produce and direct the Camp cabaret-performance fundraiser, Broadway Live!
Cost: $10/JCC Member, $13/Guest
When you purchase a virtual ticket, you will be provided with a link to watch the film on your own within a 48-hour window.
