The Secret Army: Female Spies

June 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am

HYBRID Class Instructor: Herb Kaufman

This presentation details the fascinating exploits and daring of many of the female spies from the Revolutionary War through the mid-Civil War.

When many colonists decided to end their relationship with England to become an independent nation, women on both sides of the conflict became agents of espionage. They served as couriers and used various means to convey useful information as agents for both the British and the Patriots.

During the Civil War women served in espionage for both the Union and the Confederacy. Women disguised themselves in men’s clothing, others established secret spying operations and some used their “feminine charms” to obtain secrets.

This class offered as a “hybrid” both on zoom and in-person at Katz JCC. Light refreshments served in person only.  *In person limit is 60 people*
