Harvey is considered an opera aficionado and was scheduled to speak on opera at Tanglewood last summer! This program by this opera expert is an introduction to the essence of opera. What makes opera unlike any other of the performing arts? In particular, how does opera use music to expand, enhance and intensify the dramatic and emotional content of a drama? Using La Boheme as an example, we will do a deep dive into Act 3 to discover how the music
accomplishes this.
