It’s time to rejuvenate your mind and body!

by Liz Curran, Katz JCC Wellness Lifestyle Coach

Did you know that the Richard M. Klein Center for Wellness at the Katz JCC’s offers a fitness program for cancer patients called, The Cancer Connection? The program offers small group personalized training specifically catered to cancer patients and their journey to recovery every step of the way.  Our certified exercise cancer specialists work with our cancer patients to learn how to succeed through the progression of specific training that focuses on improving functional capacity, improved joint range of motion, minimizing fatigue and preventing illness.

We don’t just want you to survive cancer…we want you to thrive as you move forward.

Our Cancer Connection team is proud to announce the inaugural Mind & Body Retreat: A Day of Restoration on Sunday, December 8 from 10am-2pm at the Katz JCC. This retreat is hosted by the Katz JCC’s Cancer Connection Program and is held in partnership with HealTHY Life, a local non-profit that provides education, support and funding to late-stage cancer patients seeking integrative and complementary treatments.

This retreat will showcase classes for cancer patients, those touched by cancer and anyone seeking to refresh and rejuvenate while supporting this great cause. There will be various classes to choose from throughout the retreat, including Chair Yoga, Mindfulness, Restorative and Laughter Yoga, Pilates and more.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to unwind and find your center all for a good cause,” said Jayne Miller-Morgan, Wellness Program Director. “Proceeds raised will help create scholarships for cancer patients to take part in our Cancer Connection programming at the JCC.”

Your registration includes your choice of two mind and body classes, a keynote speaker, group meditation and a kosher lunch. Tickets are $65 per participant. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit Cancer Connection at the Katz JCC and HealTHY Life.
