Embrace Jewish life and holiday celebrations with your family and friends at the Katz JCC. We offer year round holiday celebrations that we designed for families of all ages, cultures and faiths! At the J, we hold a variety of programs centered around various Jewish holidays that include Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Passover as well as weekly Shabbat celebrations.
Shabbat
On the first Friday and Saturday of each month (September-June), our Tot Shabbat (Fridays 10:30-11:15am) and Shabbat Shabang (Saturdays 11am-12:15pm) celebrations are a great way for families with young children to spend time together, meet new friends and celebrate Shabbat. Both programs are free and open to the community.
Our older adults celebrate Shabbat every Friday at noon during our Adult Meal Program. Each celebration includes lighting of the candles and songs followed by a delicious traditional kosher Shabbat meal.
Chanukah
Every year we hold an event the entire community is welcome to attend. We’ve had a Make It, Take It, Fry It, Try It event a drive through menorah parade and this past year we hosted the Great Chanukkah happening. And always, Judah Maccabee appears to light the giant menorah on our roof top. Plans for a fun and festive Chanukah event for 2023 are underway and we’ll update you as soon as the details are finalized.
Sukkot
Celebrate Sukkot with us! When the holiday arrives, each year we build and decorate a beautiful Sukkah. Make walking through our modified and safe JCC Sukkah an annual tradition for your family.
Jewish traditions, values and culture are infused into everyday life at the J from infants to older adults. On a Friday morning you might see our Sari Isdaner Early Childhood Center students and teachers enjoying Shabbat songs together in the lobby, during Chanukah you can join us for our menorah lighting each night, purchase a challah during our challah sale for your next Shabbat dinner or enjoy a special holiday treat!
