SUMMER EVENING COURSE BROCHURE JULY-SEPTEMBER 2025

Under the Evening Sky Mixed Media Workshop Thursday, July 10 Wednesday, August 6 Wednesday, September 17 6:30pm-8:30pm Class starts promptly at 6:30pm Meet us outside as the light settles, and you work on a canvas for your interpretation of an Evening Sky. We will have a discussion and introduction on mixed media materials and usage, including acrylic paint, wax sticks, pencils, and markers. Find inspiration from the sky above you as the light changes in the evening and with the materials in front of you. Each evening will present a different night sky experience to explore how the changing light affect color and mood—join all three to deepen your technique and gain a richer perspective through repetition and variation. In Week One, discover how U.S. foreign policy is shaped by key players such as the President, Congress, and departments like State, Commerce, and Defense. We will examine how well these institutions coordinate and how conflicting priorities affect global strategy. Week Two focuses on the complex journey toward securing a party’s presidential nomination. This session will cover the role of primaries, caucuses, and national conventions, and explore the political forces that shape a candidate’s path to the presidency. In Week Three, we’ll take a closer look at the inner workings of the legislative branch. We’ll explore committee assignments, the influence of staff, and the unwritten rules and customs that affect how legislation moves (or stalls) on Capitol Hill. Week Four will delve into the origins and evolution of the U.S. Supreme Court. We’ll trace its historical foundations, major milestones, and how its development may influence its future role in American politics. Summer Under the Tent: A Soft Yoga Flow, Meditation & Journaling Series Mindful Meditation Wednesday, July 9 Wednesday, August 13 7pm-8:30pm Immerse yourself in an evening of soul-soothing movement, reflection, and intention. Join us Under the Tent for two powerful 90-minute sessions designed to help you stretch your body, tap into your power, meditate under the stars, and journal your next steps. Each session ends with a collective affirmation to anchor your truth: I AM SESSION 1: Release & Reset - Wednesday, July 9 Imagine easing into stillness with a gentle, soft yoga flow to open the body and release stress. Karen will guide you through a calming meditation as the evening settles, creating space to let go of what no longer serves you. A Day of Kayaking in the Pinelands Sunday, September 14 21+ only 9:30am: Meet at Pinelands Adventure 10am-2pm: Kayak Join us for a day of adventure, nature, and kayaking, accompanied by JCC aquatics staff who are enthusiastic kayakers. The Batsto River is a scenic, winding Pine Barrens river with clean, cool water, waiting for you to explore! Trip length is approximately 4 hours, based on the average trip length for beginner to intermediate paddlers, out for a relaxing paddle. Bring your sunblock, lunch, snacks, and water. * Changing river conditions such as weather, water levels, underwater obstacles and fallen trees can make this trip moderately challenging depending upon the paddler’s level of experience and physical condition.
