Instructor: Herb Kaufman
In teaching the history of the American Revolution we traditionally focus on the group of men we term the Founding Fathers? of the United States. What is often ignored are the significant and important roles played by many women in the War for Independence. Women organized the Daughters of Liberty? and performed crucial tasks in the American Revolution: organizing fundraising drives, supplying the troops, serving as spies, and tending to the wounded. Many women engaged in courageous acts of heroism and sacrifice. Women joined their husbands in the field, doing whatever tasks were necessary. This is the history of many of these selfless and heroic women whose role in the service of the revolution is often ignored and forgotten.
