The weather is getting colder and that means the action in the Katz JCC Gymnasium is about to start heating up! The 2017-2018 Junior Maccabi Basketball season is just around the corner. Registration has opened and we are looking forward to a tremendous season with each and every youngster that participates. Most seasons will begin on December 10, 2017 with some exceptions.
I look forward to each season, but this year I am particularly excited. We have added some new features to our leagues this year that we believe will improve the learning environments and create more balanced competition throughout. Check them out below:
Not a member? Not a problem!
We now have rates for not only Basic members, but for Guests as well. We think this will add not only increased participation but allow previous friends of program participants to play in the league as well.
In Season Clinics
We will be holding league wide clinics for our 3rd graders and up at different days/times TBD. We believe this added benefit at no charge will be a great way for league participants to work out together in a clinic style environment that will be run like a large scale practice.
Two Pre-K league options
We understand that our typical 11:30-12:00pm Pre-K time slot may not be best for some families due to nap times. We are adding another option for this age group and families will choose between the typical 11:30-12:00pm slot or our new 10:00-10:30am slot. We hope this will increase the number of Pre-K participants that will begin their basketball journey with us!
DRAFTED TEAMS
Last year we introduced evaluation days for our 3rd graders and up. This year, we are adding a staff/coach run draft to determine teams. We believe this will help balance teams in the best way possible and allow for a more level playing field for all participants.
It is our goal to have the most successful season ever this year and we are looking forward to seeing all of you out on the courts in late November/early December. Check out our website for more information: https://katzjcc.org/jrmac/
