The Katz JCC hosts many fitness and wellness special events throughout the year that are open to the community. All these events are a great way to get your family and friends involved in a healthy activity!
Commit to be Fit Challenge
The way to get fit is you must commit! This 5 week weight loss competition includes: pre and post fitness assessments, bi-weekly weigh-ins, two 30 minute personal training sessions, nutritional consultation with JCC dietitian, weekly fitness challenges, cooking demo, program workshop, and prizes to top male and female competitors.

LaBlast Dance Fitness Class
Come try the newest workout craze! Do you want to learn how to dance like those on Dancing with the Stars? This is a fun calorie burning class with no partner needed, taught by LaBlast National Master Trainer Danielle Janco. Limited space and need to register! Free and Open to the Community!

NEW! Cooking with Heart for Kids
This class is meant to empower kids to make heart healthy food choices. Kids will learn basic food safety and cooking skills that they can use on their own or with the guidance of an adult. This class is hands on food prep and cooking demonstration with recipes that are simple and healthy for kids. Parent/guardians are welcome to join in on the fun (includes smoothie and snack).
How to Stay Fit Where You Sit
Learn various exercises and tools to prevent headaches, neck and back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome, all while sitting. You will also learn how to strengthen your back, hands and neck. Taught by JCC’s Chiropractor Dr. Scott Yorker. Choose from one of the two free lectures:

Come join an open discussion on some common spine injuries, how to reduce the risk of spine injuries and some suggestions for any current problem you may be experiencing.
Vino and Vinyasa
Join us for a Vinyasa yoga class including basic positions and poses followed by enjoying a glass of red wine and healthy snacks for National Nutrition Month.

Kids Fit Club
Kids will build confidence, have fun and learn about nutrition and fitness! Each week, Fit Club Kids will receive: 1 Fitness program (Fridays, 4:15pm – Boot Camp, Yoga, Tabata, running drills), five 30 minute sessions with a personal trainer, nutrition workshop with JCC Nutritionist Allyson Mitidieri RD. Open to JCC members ages 9-12.
Glowga Glow in the Dark Yoga Class
It’s time to shake things up with yoga in the dark! Kick off Chanukah with this yoga class of pure freedom and flow to immerse in the music. We’re turning the lights down, bringing our fluorescents out and getting our GLOWGA on! This class is designed to connect with your body, get out of your mind and just feel free again. Minimal verbal cueing is done in a dark room with black lights and glow bracelets, necklaces, etc. Wear your favorite white t-shirt! Ages 10 and up are welcome but ages 10-13 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Maintain to Gain Challenge
Get a head start on your New Year’s resolution to stay healthy! Maintain your current weight through the holidays and be entered to win a VISA gift card. All participants who lose weight will be entered into an additional drawing for a special prize. Fitness information, tips and recipes will be provided to help participants be successful.
Flowing with the Rhythms
Celebrate Thanksgiving blessings with Pam and special guest Jed Blume for a journey of the senses with a flowing yoga practice along with exciting live music of the hang drum.
Our annual Kids Triathlon is open to kids in the community ages 7-12. Our kid-friendly course allows participants to be a part of a heart-healthy activity and gain a sense of accomplishment as they swim, bike and run to the finish line.
Eric & Andy Sussman 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
This event is held in the spring each year, in memory of local brothers who lost their individual battles to cancer. Tournaments are held for adults, teens and children. Proceeds from the event benefit Coaches vs. Cancer and the JCC’s youth basketball programs.
Indoor Wiffleball Tournament
Round up a team and play ball in our wiffleball tournament. Teams are comprised of 3-4 players.
Be a part of a fun and friendly kickball tournament at the J! There will be 3 to 4 players per team with a 6 team limit.

Cycle for Good
JCC’s across North America will cycle all at the same time, riding for a good cause. Riders can reserve a bike per hour session and are encouraged to ask family and friends to sponsor the ride. Proceeds raised benefit the Katz JCC’s financial assistance fund.
Indoor Soccer Tournament
Dribble, shoot, score with friends in our indoor soccer tournament. Teams are comprised of 5-7 players.
Our annual 5K, which takes place in the fall, is a fun morning for the entire family on the USATF certified course through picturesque Cherry Hill. The JCC chip-times the participants and give out a dri-fit 5K shirt. Prizes are then awarded to top finishers.
Healthy Heart Month
The Katz JCC recognizes February as its annual Healthy Heart Month through a month-long series of programs such as: fitness with flavor (PDF), fitness “thons” (PDF), special yoga classes (PDF), recovery training (PDF), health screenings and much more. Healthy Heart Month is held in conjunction with Cooper University Health Care.
