JCC Maccabi Games & Mid-Atlantic Junior Maccabi Games
JCC Maccabi Games
The JCC Maccabi Games are the largest annual gathering of Jewish teens ages 13-16 from around the world! This Olympic style sports competition is held each summer and offers teens the chance to be a part of an incredible athletic, social and cultural experience. The Katz JCC’s South Jersey delegation travels to compete across the county with over 5,000 teens worldwide.
In addition to athletic competition, athletes gain a unique experience when they stay with host families during their stay in the host community. The hospitality offered by host families makes visiting athletes feel at home, and many athletes create bonds with their host family that last beyond the Games.
Athletes also participate in an Olympic style Opening Ceremonies and JCC Cares, local community service projects that promote important Judaic and human values and leave an impact on the local community. The Katz JCC was a proud host of the JCC Maccabi Games in 1999 and 2014.
Tryouts are open to Jewish teens (or teens that identify as Jewish) that are 13 and not yet 17 by July 31, 2020. The all-inclusive games fee includes: transportation/airfare, luggage fees, opening ceremony outfit, competition uniforms, trading pins, t-shirts, all meals, sports competition and all evening social events.
Want to compete for Team South Jersey or have any questions? Please email Bryan Lentine, Sports & Leagues Coordinator, at [email protected]. Partial scholarships are available based on financial need.
Mid-Atlantic Mini & Junior Maccabi Games
The Mid-Atlantic Mini & Junior Maccabi Games is a one-day sports competition for Jewish athletes ages 9-12 (as of 5/1/2020). Athletes from JCCs across the Mid-Atlantic region compete each spring, and this is a great way for kids to experience the JCC Maccabi Games on a smaller scale prior to participating in the “big games”. There will be two age brackets: a 9-10 bracket and an 11-12 bracket.
