The Katz JCC has a variety of specialty wellness classes and programs that are intended for people seeking recovery from illness, a specific health condition, or those looking to improve their overall health. Work with one of our exercise specialists and learn how to succeed through the progression of specific training that focuses on improving functional capacity, improving joint range of motion, minimizing fatigue, and preventing illness.

Explore your body’s possibilities through music and improve your balance, flexibility, coordination, and posture. An ideal class for those with Parkinson’s or chronic illness.

Pilates for Neurological Disorders
This class is specifically designed for neurological conditions, such as MS, and those recovering from a stroke. Pilates for Neurological Disorders can specifically help with improving strength, balance, and flexibility. Basic Pilates positions will be taught using related apparatus in a supportive, gentle, and fun environment. Emphasis on breathing and body alignment to connect with and control body movement.

Qigong for Adults
Achieve flexibility, balance, energy, strength, health, and peace of mind in a series of energy-gathering exercises. These meditation and physical exercises have been used in Chinese Wellness for centuries to improve overall well-being.

Raise Your Voice – Speech Therapy Group Class
This new speech therapy class will help strengthen your voice. No prior individual therapy is required to participate. These classes are great for those with Parkinson’s Disease and will be conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist who has completed LSVT training, Lousfor Life, and Loud Crowd programs.

Tai Chi for Wellness
This class combines three basic forms of Tai Chi along with Qigong methods for those with chronic conditions to help improve daily activities and life skills. Both seated and standing positions will be taught.

Yoga ‘101’
Have you always wanted to try a yoga class but are not sure where to start? Learn proper alignment of basic yoga poses to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Breathing techniques to calm the mind and relaxing meditation exercises to reduce stress will also be introduced.
